When someone switches to a ketogenic or carnivore diet, the question almost inevitably comes up sooner or later: what happens to the hormones, especially estrogen levels? Many people worry that eliminating carbohydrates will disrupt hormonal balance, cause cycle irregularities in women, or negatively affect well-being. The reality, however, is far more complex—and reassuring.

Estrogen levels are not determined solely by how many carbohydrates we eat.
